Finding Joy in the Midst of an Unhappy Valentine’s Day

Finding Joy in the Midst of an Unhappy Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is often associated with feelings of love, joy, and excitement. Yet, for many, this day may be a difficult reminder of the loss of a loved one, a life without companionship or a reminder of a past painful relationship. This day may also trigger current relationship issues.

Whether it’s because of a loss, a recent breakup, the never-ending search for companionship, or relationship challenges, Valentine’s Day can be a difficult day to endure.

If you’re feeling lonely and/or unhappy this Valentine’s Day, here are a few things you can do to bring more joy to your day.

1. Connect with your emotions and let them flow.

If Valentine’s Day is not a happy day for you, it’s important to remember that it’s okay to feel whatever you feel. Give yourself permission to connect with your emotions and let them flow. Don’t bottle them up or suppress them. Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel without judging yourself.

Your emotions provide you with valuable insight into yourself and your relationships. By taking the time to connect with them and by letting them flow, you can gain more clarity and understanding about your own emotions and needs.

Writing down your thoughts and feelings will further support you in understanding yourself better. This will also help you process your emotions, giving you an opportunity to heal and move forward.

So, take a few moments to reflect and acknowledge your feelings, and write them down.

2. Reach out to a friend or loved one.

Instead of letting this day bring you down, why not reach out to a friend or loved one? Show them your appreciation and gratitude for being there for you, no matter what. It’s a great way to remind yourself of the positive relationships in your life and to focus on the love that does still exist in your world.

3. Celebrate yourself and take some time for self-care.

If you find yourself feeling down as a result of your loss or unmet expectations of love, then it’s especially important to celebrate yourself and take some time for self-care.

Make a list of all the things that make you unique and special. Spend some time doing the things you love and that make you feel happy, alive, and energized. It can be anything from taking a walk, reading a good book, or dancing to your favorite music to trying out a new recipe, or taking part in a hobby, or having a relaxing bath.

Even if it’s just for a few minutes, focusing on self-love and self-appreciation while taking the time to do something just for you can help to reduce stress, lift your spirits, and lead you into an inner state of joy.

4. Let yourself be vulnerable with someone you trust.

A great way to heal your heart is to open it up to someone you trust. This may be a friend, a family member, or even a counselor or coach. Letting yourself be vulnerable with someone can help you process and work through the difficult emotions associated with Valentine’s Day. Even if it doesn’t seem easy, it’s worth it.

Allowing yourself to be vulnerable in front of another person can be a powerful step toward healing and experiencing the love that you desire and deserve.

5. Practice gratitude and focus on the positives.

It’s easy to feel disappointed on Valentine’s Day if you feel alone or lack the love and affection you want. But in spite of this, there are still ways to make this day positive.

One way is to practice gratitude and focus on the positives. From the people you love to the small things that make your life easier, take a moment to recognize the good things in your life and appreciate them. This will help you feel more joy and contentment.

Despite the commercialization of Valentine’s Day, it can still be a meaningful and special day for those who are widowed, in relationships and those who are single. It’s important to remember that you have the power within you to create a joyful life and fulfilling relationships.

Valentine’s Day can still be a happy time, despite its traditional associations, if you choose to make it so.

Where to Find True Love

Where to Find True Love

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. This may be a romantic and happy day for some people, while it may be a sorrowful day for others.

Valentine’s Day and other “special days” have been so commercialized that they frequently lead to disappointment, loneliness, and misery because expectations aren’t met.

This day may make you more desirous of a relationship if you’re single. If your relationship is having problems, you might be buying a gift for your spouse or significant other out of obligation while also feeling worse about the fact that things aren’t turning out the way you had intended.

If your relationship is going well, you don’t need Valentine’s Day to remember to let your partner know that.

Because I choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day every day, it’s just another day for me. I try to have love in my heart every day and to show this love to others. I’m better at doing this some days than others.

This channeled message talks about where to find true love. It’s closer than you may think. I hope it touches your heart in the same way it did mine.

I want to wish you a happy day every day, not just a happy Valentine’s Day!

You need not look any further than your own heart to find the love that you seek for it is with you always. Make no mistake. Anyone who tells you to look for love outside of yourself is misleading you, for until you fall in love with yourself, you will never be able to fully love another. As you judge yourself, you will judge another. As you blame yourself, you will blame others.

The same is true about happiness. It too will not be found outside of you for everything you seek is already within you, waiting to be uncovered and experienced. The longer you continue to seek for pleasure outside of yourself, the longer you will experience pain, for nothing outside of you can ever give you what you truly seek.

This is not something many of you want to hear, so you continue your endless search for love, peace or joy and suffer in the process. When will you stop and come back to yourself where everything you desire can be found?

You ARE the love that you seek. You ARE the peace and joy that you desire. You ARE all that is and ever has been and ever will be.

Marisa’s Musings

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard or read about the importance of self-love and that everything we desire is within us and yet, I still fall into the trap from time to time of seeking outside of myself for what I desire to experience in my life. I still give power over my emotions to external circumstances. If something happens that I don’t like, I feel angry or hurt. Sometimes I still blame or judge myself for choices I make that lead to undesirable results.

Although I can say I love myself much more than I ever did in the past, I know I still have a ways to go. I also continue to work on being more aware of how I allow external circumstances to determine my emotional state. It’s not always easy to stay calm when things outside of me are not  the way I desire them to be and yet I KNOW deep within me that I have no control over ANYTHING that is occurring outside of me.

I will continue to do my best to respond rather than react to whatever I experience in my life and love myself instead of beating myself up whenever I feel I have failed to do so. I am understanding more and more that LOVE is the answer to everything and this love is always available to me if I but look within.

Did Your Father Believe in You?

Did Your Father Believe in You?

Did your father believe in you when you were growing up? If so, he truly did give you the greatest gift ever. I now know that my father believed in me but as a result of his upbringing and cultural conditioning, he kept this to himself when I was a child. He was taught that it was best to rule by instilling fear and not giving praise to ensure his daughters would not go astray.

I remember asking him once when I was about 10 years old why he only spoke up and punished us when we were doing something he believed was wrong or not good enough and never said anything when we did a good job with something. His response was something like, “You know if I don’t say anything, what you’re doing is good.”

Although his method of childrearing did result in all his daughters getting a great education and not getting into any trouble with drugs, alcohol, etc., it also left us with some deep wounds that made our lives challenging in different ways.

I’m grateful for the inner work I’ve done that helped me heal from these wounds. This work also helped me develop a greater understanding of my father that led to feeling deeper love, compassion and appreciation for him and all the sacrifices he made for me and the rest of my family.

How Do You REALLY Feel About Your Mother?

How Do You REALLY Feel About Your Mother?

Mother’s Day is a happy day for some people and for others it isn’t.

No matter how you feel about your mother, (whether or not she is still in physical form), I invite you to reflect on your relationship with her.

You see, your relationship with your mother, and the feelings that surface for you whenever you think about her, have a profound impact on how you relate to others and to yourself. Oftentimes, this impact isn’t even conscious!

If you have (or had) a healthy relationship and healthy boundaries with your mother, there’s a good chance you have healthy relationships with others and can authentically and lovingly communicate with them.

If, on the other hand, you have (or had) a strained relationship with your mother and still have unresolved issues, it’s not too late to address them so you can heal from your past and finally be free to BE your REAL self in all your relationships.

Ignoring past issues or unhealed wounds doesn’t make them go away. In fact, over time this avoidance will get in the way of you experiencing the relationships you truly desire with everyone who matters to you.

If you want to create a healthier relationship with your mother but you’re not sure where to start, let me help you.
